Extending the compassion of Christ to unhoused pregnant women through stable, safe, and transformative maternity housing.
About Us
The Maternity Housing Initiative story starts with a desire to fill a gap in the social services safety net. There is no housing in West Tennessee designed for unhoused, pregnant women. Yet, on average, our pregnancy-care partners see one client each week who has no stable housing. We anxiously await the day when we will open the door and welcome our first resident. Until that day, we give thanks for each of you who join this effort.
In partnership with local churches, non-profits, pregnancy-care organizations, and private donors, pregnant unhoused women will be referred to MHI. Residents will be encouraged to stay with us for at least a year after the birth of their baby. During that year they will engage in job readiness, job training and/or work and education.
